If you are like me and adore M.A.C’s back to MAC program AND have way too many lipsticks then you will need to get yourself a lipstick palette. The palette I am going to show you today is my first lipstick palette. It has served me well. It holds 12 lipsticks. I need to either make another palette or change to a bigger palette. I am considering trying out the Japonesque 35 well pro lipstick palette for $32.00.I have not purchased it yet because of the cost but I really like the look of it and I need the space.

O.K. onto my current lipstick palette. It is actually a bead organizer and was purchased on Amazon.com for only $4.39.You can get it here

http://www.amazon.com/12pc-Clear-Bead-Storage-Display/dp/B007QV0B1E/ref=sr_1_3?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1368906232&sr=1-3&keywords=12+bead+storage

This is my palette as it looks now.

Basically what you want to do is grab one of the empty round jars and remove the lid.Grab your lipstick and roll it all the way up…Find some kind of long skinny utensil to get all the lipstick from the tube and place all of this on a paper towel for easy clean up. Here is my set up. The lipstick I depotted here was Makeup Forever’s 506. #506 is a Matte intense red. The shade has been discontinued unfortunately.

My set up

My set up

I think this is pretty self explanatory but just in case somebody does not know I will explain. Roll up the lipstick and use your toolto cut off the top and place it in your bead container. Then use the tool to scoop out the inside of the tube. There is a LOT hidden inside the tube. Place that inside your bead container as well. Put the clear lid on and remove the sticker from your lipstick and place that on the bottom of your bead container. You now have one labeled depotted lipstick. YAY! Some people like to place the lipstick in a large spoon and melt it or place it in a microwave safe container and melt it that way. I do not. I find that it changes the consistency of my lipstick whenI do that as well as you run the risk of melting the bead container like the one in my picture below. Here are pictures of my depotting of the Makeup Forever 506 and my completed lipstick palette. Enjoy…

Urban Decay does it again. Every palette I have ever owned by Urban Decay has been a hit in my book. I picked up the Vice Palette for Christmas last year and have pulled it out a few times but it has mostly sat unused in my makeup drawers. A shame I know. I thought to myself this morning as I was getting ready that I really should do a review on it. So I got my butt in gear and got to swatching.

My number 1 complaint with this palette is that the outside case is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean. As you will see in my pics. I can deal with it though because the quality of the shadows is as usual with Urban Decay amazing! The palette itself is stunning to look at. All those colors….Neutrals and brights mixed into one amazing perfect for travel palette. I do believe this is a gift from the gods…

O.K. lets talk about application. For a base I always use the same thing . Either a MAC paint pot or Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. Lately I have used my MAC Paint Pots exclusively. So most of the shadows in this palette apply smooth and blend like a dream. With the exception of Jagged, Muse and Provocateur. The 3 I just named are great as well but they do contain large chunks of glitter that for some will bother them. For me it is a non issue. I always apply my shadow BEFORE my face makeup. Thanks Wayne Goss for getting me in the habit of that!! That allows me to wipe away the fallout without ruining my foundation and the rest of my face makeup.

As for the length of wear that these shadows provide I am able to apply my eye makeup at 8 a.m. and when I come home at 6 p.m. in the evening my eyes are as fresh as  when I applied my makeup that morning….Pretty freaking awesome. I have left my eye makeup on till 10 p.m. just to see if it would last that long and guess what? It did!

Blending is not an issue at all. I am able to blend my crease out perfectly to whatever look I desire that particular day. As for pigmentation these shadows perform amazingly well. As you will see in my swatches there are only a couple that lack pigmentation and those colors are the lighter shades and so it may actually not be a pigmentation issue at all but rather that the shade is just a lighter shade. The Urban Decay Vice Palette is sadly no longer available as it was a limited edition item. I did not even realize that they were no longer being sold intill I started to write this review and wanted to supply a link for purchase,

This is an amazing Palette and if you can get your hands on one you really should. It will be a welcome addition to any makeup junkies collection for sure. You can shop Urban Decay here http://www.urbandecay.com/

Lets get on to the swatches shall we…

Vice Palette

L-R Desperation, Muse, Jagged, Blitz, Penny Lane

Vice Palette

L-R Junkie, Chaos, Occupy, Unhinged, Black Market

Vice Palette

L-R Provocateur, Rapture, Vice, Noise, Armor

Vice Palette

L-R Nevermind, Echo Beach, Anonymous, Freebird, Laced

STANDOUT SHADES: BLITZ, CHAOS, UNHINGED, VICE, NOISE, NEVERMIND, ECHO BEACH AND LACED….

Those above are my top faves from this palette. I am now going to show some pics of the rest of the actual palette. I will also show the brush. The brush it comes with has an all over shadow end and a blending end. It is a rather decent brush for a palette to come with. Especially if you think of the dinky little sponge tips Dior provides. Someone tell me what is up with that!

DSCF0248 DSCF0249 DSCF0250 DSCF0251 DSCF0252 DSCF0247 DSCF0240 DSCF0239

You can see all the finger prints on the outside of the palette. That is hard to prevent with this material and can not really be helped. All in all it does not really bother me though.

Here are pics of todays eye look using Blitz on the lid and Muse in my crease.

THIS REVIEW IS MY OWN HONEST OPINION AND PRODUCTS MENTIONED WERE BOUGHT WITH MY OWN  MONEY. I WAS NOT PAID FOR THIS REVIEW IN ANY WAY.

HAVE A GREAT NIGHT  EVERYONE AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

My top beauty products do change from time to time so this is my top products of April 2013. My number 1 can’t live with out beauty product would have to be my trusty Z palette. Anyone who does makeup professionally in any fashion will benefit from owning 1 or many of these. There is nothing quite like an afternoon spent depotting products and seeing the end results of your favorite items neatly stored in a Z Palette. The space you save is amazing. Here is what my Z Palette Pro looks like. It is currently housing some MAC blushes and a MAC MSF in Whisper of Guilt (lovely by the way).

Z Palette Pro

You can pick up one of these bad boys here for only $25.00!

http://zpalette.com/makeup-z-palette/pro-black-palette.html

The Z Palette is made out of eco-friendly cardboard but with the strength of a plastic palette. The top has a clear window and a space-saving design the clear top can be folded under the bottom part of the palette. These palette come in awesome colors and designs like hot pink and zebra print! I am implementing a grading system for all my reviews from here on out. RAMBLINGS GRADE: A+

M y #2 must have beauty item is a well known and loved item by many beauty junkies. The MAC 217 brush. Whats not to love? This brush is phenomenal at blending out crease work, powdering/setting under eye concealer, it fits perfectly into my outer v and inner tear duct! basically all your hard to reach spots as the soft goat fiber head is the perfect not to big nor to small. This brush retails for $23.00 you can get it online at http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/145/380/217-Blending-Brush/index.tmpl

Check it out in these pics. I apologize for the dirty brush LOL. This brush is used daily and today being Monday it is not due for its weekly bath till Sunday.  I also recommend picking up some brush guards to keep your brushes in top shape while drying. RAMBLINGS GRADE: A+

Must have #3 is actually a double as I could not pick just one. Trust me you need both! Of course I am talking about Urban Decay‘s Naked Palette and Naked 2 Palette. Both give you an amazing array of 12 neutrals that are buttery soft and a dream to work with. You can do so many amazing looks. I could literally work out of either of these palettes every day and not get board for years. That is an amazing feat for any company. You get all these beautiful shadows at only $50 for each Palette. A steal if you consider the amount of product you are getting. I am not going to swatch these as I don’t have enough room on my arm for all these colors LOL. You can find a ton of swatches on google images. RAMBLINGS GRADE: A+

For must have #4 I chose MAC Embrace Me Lipstick. You probably all know by now how much I adore this color so this should not be a big surprise. This is the PERFECT summer hot pink lipstick. It is described as a bright fuchsia cream. It is a medium-dark fuchsia pink with blue undertones. YOU NEED THIS LIPSTICK!! Trust me…This lipstick was released with the Fashion Sets for Summer 2013 Collection. I have yet to find anywhere they are in stock. I need a back up or 10! If anyone knows of anywhere or anyone with extras for sale then let me know I must have more.LOL. RAMBLINGS GRADE:A++++++

Last but definitely not least in my Top 5 beauty products is … Benefit Badgal Lash. This mascara is my go to mascara for eyes that scream “LOOK AT ME”. It really makes my lashes look incredibly full and thick. Of course being a beauty junkie I know the value of a great set of false lashes and I do wear them often but on the days that I don’t  want to deal with my falsies I reach  for this awesomeness in a tube!!!! This amazing stuff will only cost you $19.00 and with results like these you can’t beat that price! RAMBLINGS GRADE: A+

As it gets hotter outside my desire for a full face of makeup and false lashes begins to dwindle a tiny bit.(but only a smidgen) I can still be found more often than not with a full face.  The sun will never defeat me!! I may be hot enough to be admitted to the hospital for dehydration and my foundation might have relocated to my breasts but I will be DAMNED if I give up my glorious flawless full face of makeup for the 2 good hours I can still squeeze in during the heat wave. I will never be the girl who is OK with just tinted moisturizer…

Please comment, like and follow. I would love to get to know my readers and for you to get to know me.

What are your go-to beauty must haves?? Is there 1 thing that you just cant live without??

Hot Mama

The Balm Hot Mama

The seasons are changing and with that comes a whole new world of possibilities with our makeup routine. My own routine definitely takes on more color as it gets hotter outside. I tend to go for more neutral colors in the winter with the exception of red lips… I mean really who does not love a great red lip in the winter.

I recently bought The Balm’s Hot Mama blush as I had not tried it and had heard some good things about it. My usual go to blush is Nars orgasm. It compliments my fair skin nicely. I have been using Hot Mama now for a couple of weeks and feel it is time to be able to fairly and accurately review the product.

In a couple of words IT ROCKS!!!! It is not to different from Nars orgasm actually. Hot mama is has a tad more peach to it with  shimmer. Hot Mama gives my cheeks a glow that no other blush including Nars orgasm has been able to do. It is very pigmented and I can easily over do it but a slight blending with my trusty Nars Botan Brush quickly and effortlessly solves that issue. If you have never tried this brush you are missing out big time! It is costly but will blend like no other brush you own. It looks like this.

Nars Botan Brush

Nars Botan Brush

This brush will cost you $75.00. I know that is a lot of money for some people to spend on 1 brush but I promise you will not be disappointed. I call it a Kabuki on steroids as the head of this brush is massive. If you are interested in buying it you can get it here..

http://www.narscosmetics.com/artist-tools/brushes/kabuki-brushes/

O.K. back to The Balm’s Hot Mama. This is a beautiful peachy coral blush. It comes housed in a square stiff cardboard case. The magnetic closure is very strong and it does seem secure. I have no worries about traveling with this blush. This is what the pan looks like…

Hot Mama

Swatch of Hot Mama

I really can not say enough good things about this blush. It is all around amazing. I find it superior to Nars orgasm although Nars orgasm is still one of my favorites. If you are interested in buying this blush(and you should) you can pick it here for $20.00 …http://www.thebalm.com/hot-mama.html

This blush is actually an all in one product. Meaning it can be used on the eyes and cheeks. I have yet to try it as a shadow as it just works so well for my cheeks. I will be trying that soon though. I give this blush a 5 out of 5 and say it is a must own. For me this is the perfect summer time blush.

Do not forget I am doing a world-wide giveaway when I hit 1000 followers. Like this post, comment and follow. The faster we get 1000 the quicker you can spend the $50!! i really appreciate the support I have gotten this far and hope to meet a lot of new beauty junkies as time goes by. I would really love comments and feedback. Let me know about what your favorite blush is. How do you like my blog? Are you going to indulge in Hot Mama? I welcome all interactions with other bloggers and look forward to talking to a;; of you. Thanks for reading…`

For anyone who has never contoured and highlighted their face you MUST try it !!! It photographs beautifully and can transform your entire face and look. What I am going to talk about today is the technique my all time favorite makeup artist uses..Wayne Goss from http://gossmakeupartist.blogspot.com/ . Check him out if you have not done so because he is awesomeness at its best! Anyway if you are looking to hide a feature than those are the areas you want to use the darker contour color on.

O.K. let’s get started. The first thing I typically do is my eyes. Fall out is much easier to wipe away when your face is bare and not covered in foundation and powder. All you end up doing is ruining your foundation otherwise.

Next you want to apply your moisturizer and primer or whatever your morning skin care routine consists of. I prefer M.A.C. Prep++Prime. Here is a link to buy this item if you want to experience it awesomeness for yourself!!

After I am all done with my skin care I pull out my trusty BH Cosmetics 10 Color Camouflage and Concealer Palette. It looks like this…

BH Cosmetics

BH Cosmetics Concealer Palette

You can buy this Palette for only $12.95 !!! Get it here  http://www.bhcosmetics.com/products/10-color-camouflage-and-concealer-palette/

What you want to do is take 2 clean concealer brushes..1 for the light color and 1 for the dark color. You need a color that is much lighter than your skin tone and use that to highlight the areas of your face you want to stand out. Your cheek bones, under your eyes, down your nose, your cupids bow. Then take a darker color that is at least 2 or 3 colors darker than your skin tone and use that to contour or to push back the features you do not want to stand out. The hollows of your cheeks, down both sides of your nose, and the perimeter of your face is what I do. We are trying to create shadows and not have our face be one flat color. This is what it should look like at this point.

I know that if you have never seen this done before that you probably think i have lost my mind but just wait till you see the finishes results. Amazing!! This WILL change your life(for the better LOL) just give it a try.

After you have finished placing your concealer grab a brush my favorite by far for this kind of work is Shiseido‘s Perfect Foundation Brush. It is flat-out amazing and I can not say enough good things about this brush. It really is perfect! The size is great. It is rather short and I love it because it allows me to really get the control I want. The head is compact and nice and dense. Just perfect! It keeps the colors in the same area you applied them while blending like a dream. So you end up with just what you want. I find using a brush with a large head moves the product around too much and muddies my look instead of just blending the colors out.
Here is a link to this amazing brush..http://www.shiseido.com/foundation-brush/0729238108165,en_US,pd.html

Best of all for a brush of this quality it will only cost you $30.00!! Pretty great really.

O.K. now that you have chosen your brush and you look like you are a mad woman or man LOL we can start blending. Before you pick up your brush though you need to get a liquid foundation that matches your skin tone. I am currently using Estee Lauder Double Wear maxim Cover camouflage makeup for face and Body SPF 15. I do like it. I was not sure I would but it actually covers great and is really nice to blend with. A little goes a long way..This is what it looks like..

Estee Lauder Double Wear

Estee lauder Double Wear

You can pick this foundation up here for $ $33.50.

http://www.esteelauder.com/product/643/13015/Product-Catalog/Makeup/Face/Foundations/Double-Wear/Maximum-Cover-Camouflage-Makeup-for-Face-and-Body-Broad-Spectrum-SPF15/index.tmpl

I use a small pea sized amount and dot this all over my face on top of the concealer. It looks something like this..

Looking crazy.LOL

Concealer with dotted foundation on top.

Now it is time to take your brush and in small circle motions start to blend. Taking care to keep the colors in the general area that you placed them. This really does do wonders for pictures. If you have photos ahead you really should give this a try.It is life changing!! In the next photo you are going to see the finished results. keep in mind that this is NOT natural light and I have added powder in 2 different shades after the blending.  Before we get to the photo of the finished photos let me show you what powders I used. To be honest my absolute favorite powder in the world is M.A.C Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation it is the best I have found. You can use it on its own in a pinch as well. I also use it for mid day touch ups too. M.A.C has a ton of shades and that makes it nice for the really pale women and the really dark women too. It will cost you $27.00 and you can pick it up on M.A.C’s website here

http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/shaded/158/251/Studio-Fix-Powder-Plus-Foundation/index.tmpl

In the next pic the M.A.C Studio Fix Powder is the round powder and the square one is Cargo Blue_Ray Pressed Powder. The Cargo powder is also very good and comes in a close 2nd in my book. I have tried to use up this powder for a while now and have gone through 4 of the Studio Fix powders by M.A.C in the same time span. Obviously M.A.C is my preference. However, for this look I need a slightly darker powder for the area’s that I added the darker Concealer. The cargo Powder was perfect for this. You can pick up the Cargo Powder for $32.00 here

http://www.cargocosmetics.com/products/face/blu_ray-pressed-powder

Here is what both powders look like and I hope you can see in the picture that the Cargo is darker.

After applying my powder I used a blush by The Balm in Hot Mama. I love love this blush and will review it for you all soon. I also used a small amount of M.A.C blush in Trace Gold and on my eyes I have M.A.C’s Quite Natural Paint Pot with Haux  on the lid and cranberry(my new go to) and Swiss Chocolate in the crease. All Shadows are also by M.A.C. As a highlight under my brow I used Urban Decay’s Virgin and in my inner tear duct I used Sin. Both shadows are from my Urban Decay Naked Palette. If you are going to buy just 1 palette then I seriously suggest you buy this one. It is the BOMB!! I can review it if anyone would like. Just comment below. If you do want to buy it you can pick it up for $50.00 at Sephora or online from Urban Decay at http://www.urbandecay.com/naked-palette-eyeshadow-by-urban-decay/245,default,pd.html?start=5&cgid=12_1

The last thing i have on is my Embrace Me lipstick by M.A.C and if you read my earlier posts then you know how much I LOVE it!! Anyway onto the indoor pictures.
